Online Resource for Lap Weaving Information

Flowers with Lap Weaving under vaseMy Na and Papa were both very creative, talented and thrifty people. They had many hand made items around their house including plate holders, placemats, cathedral window quilts and nuts and bolts figurines. They have both passed on, but I am lucky to have had the opportunity to learn some of their crafts and very lucky to have inherited many of the tools they used to create these items.

Hexagon Weaving LoomsOne of the tools that I have had hanging in my garage for about two years are these wooden frames. Unfortunately I never learned from my Na how to use them, but I know what they were used for and after spending a half a day searching around the internet, I learned that these are hexagon lap weaving looms used to make potholders and placemats. I also learned that although many people have these looms, they don't know how to use them and it is VERY difficult to find instructions online.

I felt the need to create an online resource and develop a community for lap weavers. So, I created LapWeaving.Info and I dedicate its success to my Na and Papa. Thank you.
